Keeping our communities warm during Winter Storm's Cora and Enzo

A stunning show of winter weather force gripped most of our territories in ice and snow this past January.

Bracing the arctic temps, our field teams maintained clean, safe, reliable and affordable natural gas service for our customers when they needed it most. By rapidly responding to issues, our teams protected our communities during the brutal cold snap and record-breaking natural gas use:

  • Atlanta Gas Light’s max daily send out topped 642 megawatt-hours, equivalent to completely charging 16 million electric vehicles.
  • Chattanooga Gas saw its second-highest demand day on record, with a max daily send out of 39 megawatt-hours. That’s 976,000 fully charged electric vehicles.
  • Nicor Gas sent out max daily 1.2 million megawatt-hours, or 31 million electric vehicles’ worth of energy.
  • Virginia Natural Gas also experienced its second-highest demand day on record. More than 117,000 max daily megawatt-hours were sent out, enough to charge 2.9 million electric vehicles.

Our frontline workers are proud members of the communities we serve. We’re grateful for their commitment to safety, comfort and reliability, and we appreciate the trust our customers put in us when winter weather strikes.
