Southern Company Gas celebrates 2024 Customer Service Week by giving back to our communities

Customer Service Week, Oct. 7-11, celebrated employees across the nation who serve as the crucial connection between businesses and the communities they serve. Southern Company Gas is committed to world-class customer service each and every day, so our team took some time to extend a hand to the those who need it most.

In addition to employee celebrations across service territories in Georgia, Illinois and Virginia, we devoted a day (what we affectionately call Serve Day!) to assembling and providing “Blankets of C.A.R.E.” for survivors of domestic violence – in alignment with our “Culture of C.A.R.E.” (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Empowerment) and with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“We had a great week celebrating and recognizing our customer-facing and frontline employees during Customer Service Week,” said Michelle Muhammed, Director of Customer Care Operations for Southern Company Gas. “It was an amazing experience across our entire footprint as we took time to have some fun but also to give back to our local communities with our annual Serve Day.”

Hundreds of employee volunteers stepped up to assemble more than 700 blankets to be distributed by agency partners. Additionally, the Southern Company Gas Foundation donated $20,000 across four domestic violence agencies.

“Thanks to the 351 volunteers and dedicated customer experience employees across GAS,” Muhammad said. “You truly are the voice of our company and consistently provide world class service in every customer interaction every day.”
