Military Family Month – Tamera Podschweit, Account Executive, Nicor Gas

Tamera Podschweit: I’m grateful for Nicor’s unwavering commitment to honoring its employees who have served.

“I didn’t know it at the time, but one of the first decisions I made as an adult would also be the most transformative. I joined the Army Reserve immediately after graduating high school, and my first time boarding an airplane would lead to many other firsts once I landed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina for basic training.

It was the first time I truly worked as a team alongside my fellow trainees. It was the first time I fully understood my own strength and potential. And it provided invaluable training and opportunities as I took my first steps toward a career.

The foundational skills I acquired during my military service continue to be instrumental as I grow personally and at Nicor Gas. As a construction consultant, the teamwork and problem-solving skills I developed in the Army Reserve come into play every day. The same is true in my personal life, especially when engaging with fellow service members and their families.

Through our shared experiences, we effortlessly connect on a deeper level, speaking a unique language that resonates when we reminisce.

I’m grateful for Nicor’s unwavering commitment to honoring its employees who have served. To my Nicor team and colleagues, I say thank you for recognizing and valuing the significance of military service. It is truly gratifying to be part of an organization that holds such deep respect and appreciation for the sacrifices and dedication of our service members and their loved ones.”
