Javier E. Montalvo serves as Vice President of Human Resources for Southern Company Gas, where he oversees HR delivery, labor relations, workforce compliance, talent management, and talent inclusion. He is also a member of the Southern Company Gas Management Council. Southern Company Gas, a subsidiary of Southern Company, employs more than 5,000 team members supporting customers across four states.

Montalvo brings more than three decades of strategic HR leadership experience across global and matrixed organizations, including CertainTeed, Hitachi Astemo, and Superior Essex. He also served as Senior HR Business Partner at Georgia Power from 2013 to 2015. His career spans transformational HR leadership roles within both global and unionized environments.

Deeply committed to industry and community engagement, Montalvo proudly serves on the Board of SHRM Atlanta and recently joined the Board of directors at Hope ATL. His civic involvement extends across New York City, Philadelphia, and Georgia—his home for the past 16 years—supporting organizations such as United Way, the Northeast Georgia Workforce Development Board, and ADL.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources from Lehman College (City University of New York) and completed his HR Professional Development Certification at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
