Senior Vice President, External Affairs Southern Company Gas
Jim Fletcher is senior vice president of external affairs for Southern Company Gas, a subsidiary of Southern Company. In this role, Fletcher is responsible for the company’s federal affairs, state and local governmental and regulatory affairs, public policy and political engagement, and resource planning and economic development efforts. He is also a member of the Southern Company Gas Management Council.
Before assuming his current role, Fletcher served as vice president of external affairs for the Southeast utilities of Southern Company Gas, responsible for regulatory and state government affairs, community relations and economic development for Atlanta Gas Light, Chattanooga Gas and Virginia Natural Gas. Previously, he’s held the role as vice president of external affairs and corporate services at Gulf Power. Fletcher has also served as Georgia Power’s vice president of governmental and regulatory affairs and was also responsible for managing Georgia Power’s activities with the Georgia Public Service Commission. Fletcher began his career at Georgia Power as a cooperative education student in 1985 and held positions of increasing responsibility, including in customer service and sales.
Fletcher is a supporter and volunteer for the American Cancer Society. He has served on the board of trustees with the West Florida Hospital and Florida Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the board of directors with the Associated Industries of Florida, the board of governors with the Ronald McDonald House, the Pensacola Chamber Foundation Board and the advisory board for Step Up for Students.
A native of Macon, Georgia, Fletcher is a graduate of Auburn University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business, specializing in industrial and operations management.
