Walt Farrell serves as president and chief executive officer of Atlanta Gas Light and Chattanooga Gas. In this role, he leads all aspects of operations, customer service, safety, reliability, infrastructure investment, regulatory strategy and financial performance for the two natural gas utilities, which serve approximately 1.8 million customers across Georgia and Tennessee.

Farrell is recognized for bringing together energy, economic development and community leadership to drive growth, strengthen critical infrastructure and create long-term value for customers, communities and stakeholders across the Southeast.

Previously, Farrell served as vice president of economic development for Georgia Power, where he led statewide efforts to recruit new business investments, support job creation and advance economic development throughout Georgia. Under his leadership, Georgia Power was recognized as a "Top Utility in Economic Development" by Site Selection magazine for the 26th consecutive year and by Business Facilities magazine for the third consecutive year.

Prior to joining Georgia Power, Farrell served as director of Advanced Manufacturing Recruitment at the Georgia Department of Economic Development, where he led domestic and international business recruitment efforts, directed Georgia's industrial site certification program and negotiated economic development incentives on behalf of the state. Earlier in his career, he held community and economic development positions with Electric Cities of Georgia and MEAG Power.

Active in the communities he serves, Farrell serves on the board of directors of the Georgia Lottery Corporation, where he previously served as chairman; the Georgia 4-H Foundation; CareerRise; OneVizion; and the Metro Atlanta Chamber. He is also a Trustee of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, serves on the Metro Atlanta Chamber's Public Policy Council, is an executive partner with Georgia Allies, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta.

Farrell has been recognized as one of Georgia Trend's "40 Under 40" and is a graduate of Leadership Georgia and the Young Game Changers program. Throughout his career, he has championed economic development, workforce development and community engagement initiatives that expand opportunity and strengthen the communities he serves.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Clemson University.
